Carolina Tiger Rescue, formerly the Carnivore Preservation Trust, is a 501(c)3 nonprofit wildlife sanctuary whose mission is saving and protecting wild cats in captivity and in the wild.

Carolina Tiger Rescue is open to the public for guided tours, by reservation only.

Private forest safari vehicles face ban in Karnataka

The Indian state of Karnataka is restricting the number of vehicles that can enter a wildlife reserve to a few government vehicles. The new rule is an effort to slow down the number of private resorts that are springing up on the borders of the reserves.

This follows an announcement a few months ago by Forest Minister Jairam Ramesh that tourism should be scaled back because people are "loving the tiger to death". Guides are heavily tipped when groups catch a glimpse of a wild tiger, and frequently the tiger may become surrounded with vehicles or tourists on elephants.
