A recent study about to be published in Conservation Biology has determined that the strategy of allowing hunters to shoot a few animals to give locals a fiancial incentive to conserve lion habitats may be backfiring. The study noticed that the number of lions killed in Tanzania trophy hunting has gone down over the last 10 years, although the demand for the hunting safaris has gone up- concluding that the lion population was continuing to suffer.
